West Ham remains in conflict with their London Stadium landlords over the green-coloured surrounds to the football pitch.

The Hammers have offered to pay for the £200,000 astroturf replacement however, landlords E20 Stadium were amenable to the initiative only if the new colour was dark blue so it was consistent with the London Stadium branding and wouldn’t affect efforts to bring other sports events or sponsors to the venue. But the option has been turned down by West Ham because the navy blue colour is associated with Spurs as well as West Bromwich Albion. An E20 spokesman told the Daily Mail  “West Ham seemed happy with their proposed colour switch at first but subsequently changed their minds.”

A senior source close to the club told Claret and Hugh today: “We would like Claret but they have rejected this for no commercial reason other than they can and are just being difficult.  E20 will only approve navy and will only allow us to have it in place for two seasons which includes this season. If we are paying for it we think we should be able to choose the colour as other comparable clubs would.”
