West Ham are ready to sit it out until the last week of the transfer window as they bid to grab Sunderland’s Connor Wickham.

The Mirror is reporting the Black Cats have put an £8 million valuation on a player who is out of contract next summer having managed just five Premier League goals.

ClaretandHugh has revealed that at this stage Sunderland have told the Irons the player is  “100 per cent not for sale.”

However, the Hammers co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold know that if they don’t sell in this window the player’s value will have fallen to around £3 million in January

And the Mirror concludes  the Irons will call Sunderland’s bluff and move again with a £5m – 6m million offer at the end of the summer window.

Sam Allardyce revealed earlier in the day that chairman Sullivan is negotiating with Diafra Sakho and thus a game of ‘double bluff’ appears to be going on!
