Hammers sign Manchester United striker

West Ham has officially announced the signing of promising striker Ashley Fletcher from Manchester United yesterday. The 20-year-old has joined the Hammers on a four-year contract believed to be worth £7,000 per week to the youngster and he becomes the fourth signing of the summer following the arrival of Havard Nordtveit, Sofiane Feghouli and Gokhan Tore.

Fletcher joins from Manchester United on a free transfer after his contract ended at the end of June but the Red Devils will be entitled to compensation for developing the player. A tribunal is needed when a player under 24 years of age moves clubs having reached the end of his contract. Whatever valuation the tribunal comes up with is non-negotiable.

England U20 international Fletcher spent the second half of last season on loan at Barnsley, for whom he scored the opening goal in the Tykes’ League One Play-Off final victory over Millwall.

The talented forward underwent a successful medical at Spire Roding Hospital before agreeing personal terms and cannot wait to show his best form for the east London Club.
