Hammers still have money to spend

Last week’s signing of Javier Hernandez for £16m has bought West Ham’s summer spending to £36m in transfer fees or up to £45m when you factor in signing-on bonuses and agent fees and potential add ons.

However, the sale of  Havard Nordveit for a reported £8m, Enner Valencia for £7m, Darren Randolph for £4.5m, Ashley Fletcher for £6.5m and the imminent sale of Sofiane Feghouli for £4m brings back £30m the other way.

Hammers net spend is actually as low as £6m or £15m when you factor additional costs and add-ons.

The Hammers have budgeted between £45m and £50m over the summer for past two years and had £8m surplus from the Payet sale so money is there if needed by Slaven Bilic but they won’t spend it for the sake of it.

The wages tell a similar tale, the sale, end of loan or release of Darren Randolph, Ashley Fletcher, Sofiane Feghouli, Alvaro Arbeloa, Jonathan Calleri, Havard Nordtveit, Enner Valencia, Gokhan Tore, Sam Howes, Sam Ford, Kyle Knoyle, Sam Westley, Stephen Hendrie and Raphael Spiegel save combined weekly wages of around £415,000 per week.

The combined weekly wages Joe Hart, Marko Arnautović, Pablo Zabaleta and Javier Hernandez will cost the Hammers also around £415,000 per week so there no material increase in wages at the moment as it stands.
