West Ham have spent £35m more in transfer dealings this summer than for the whole of last season figures have revealed. West Ham co-chairman David Gold wrote on WHUFC.com earlier today that summer transfer spending has now reached £60m.

Yesterday Vice Chairman Karren Brady wrote in her Sun Football diary “So far this summer have spent £40million and if Simone Zaza signs, over £60m, a new record for us. And yet it doesn’t seem to be enough for some supporters.”

ClaretandHugh believe the Hammers have committed to shelling out a total of £70m in this transfer window comprising of Zaza (£4.2m loan fee+ £17m transfer fee), Fernandes £5.44m, Ayew £20.5m, Masuaku £6.2m, Lanzini (including add-ons) £10.2m, Tore £2.55m (loan fee), Martinez  £2.55m and Calleri (loan fee) £850,000.

When you subtract the £10m we received for James Tomkins our net spend on transfers reaches the £60m figure quoted by Gold and Brady. Last season we shelled out nearly £44m in transfer feeds but crucially we received nearly £20m back in return for outgoing players making our actual net spend just under £25m.
