Manchester United have finally announced Jesse Lingard’s Old Trafford departure leaving the player with a major decision to make.

His boyhood club did their best to give him a grand farewell when they spoke of him being an Academy graduate and a dyed-in-the-wool Red who had been with the club for over 20 years” on their official website.

That didn’t stop the club freezing him out under Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer at a time when West Ham were making  their  desire to bring him back to the London Stadium very clear.

Now the 29 year old has to decide whether he is ready to take an offer of around £100k a week from West Ham at a time when he is rumoured to have other offers.

We have already reported that he is looking for closer to £180k a week but that won’t happen given that it would make him worth only £20k a year less than the contract offered to Declan Rice at 23 and club captain.

David Moyes has failed to make progress on a deal with his father/agent but is unlikely to give up until he has a definite answer.
