Hammers thrown Euro lifeline

West Ham may be clutching at straws with our hopes of clinching European football next season but it seems Premier League results may have gone our way this evening.

With The Hammers battling Newcastle United for seventh place, the Magpies travelled to Selhurst Park only to face the same fate as West Ham by losing 2-0 to Crystal Palace.

It would still require a miracle for David Moyes to claim a 4th consecutive season of European football next season, particularly with Eddie Howe’s Toon team still having a game in hand. There remains a glimmer of hope, however, following Chelsea’s thumping at the hands of Arsenal yesterday.

Moyes will need to beat Klopp’s Liverpool on Saturday

West Ham entertain Liverpool at the London Stadium on Saturday in what would normally be a tricky fixture. However, Jurgen Klopp’s team have damaged their title chances with a 2-0 loss in the Merseyside derby against Everton and must now travel to London for the early kick-off.

Clutching at straws? Maybe, but results certainly seem to have gone in our favour.
