Hammers top arrest table again

West Ham have yet again topped the table for the second year running for number of arrests being made at football matches having risen to levels last seen in the 2013-14 campaign.

The Home Office figures reveal that 682 banning orders had been issued last season, an increase of 32 per cent on the previous year and the highest figure recorded since 2010-2011 (960).

The Home Office have announced that 2,264 fans were arrested during the 2022-23 season in connection to domestic and international football matches involving English and Welsh clubs.

West Ham had 89 arrests (down from 95 last season) followed Manchester United with 83 arrests while Leeds United had 69 arrests with Manchester City with 66 arrests.

Spurs and Arsenal are ranked joint fourth with 51 arrests each.

Government figures say that  around 68 per cent of the 89 Hammers fans had  been arrested at the London Stadium.

Public disorder was the most common reason with 27 arrests from the 89 recorded.

When it comes to banning orders West Ham are ranked fifth with 52 court banning orders, Manchester United tops banning orders with 69 followed by Millwall on 66, then Leicester City with 56 and Birmingham with 54 court orders.  West Ham running total of banning orders since 2015 is 450.
