West Ham’s refusal to accept a takeover bid from PAI Capital was this afternoon confirmed by the club.

And an insider – speaking exclusively to ClaretandHugh – declared that despite a statement from the group hoping things may change,  the club would never be sold to the group.

In their statement PAI claim that a second bid has been made but that was also disputed with our source claiming that nobody had seen such an offer.

And when ClaretandHugh asked PAI spokesman Tony Cottee for sight of the bid he explained: “The bid was made but we can’t make it public – that’s not the way things are done.”

He added:  Our statement on the situation says it all and there is nothing I can add to that. We are delighted at the way things are going on the field for the club but wish things were different off it.

However, things can change and we will be ready to pursue things if David Sullivan were to change his mind about selling the club.”

Our Hammers source added however: “Its been made clear the club will not deal with PAI whatever they bid as they are property people, not football people and unsuitable custodians of WHU.

Additionally, the club can’t deal with people who conduct their negotiations via the media.

All of this forgets that the club is in the best shape its been in for decades and we have a very good team that will give any club a run for its money.

Nobody has a will to  sell the club, but as we’ve always said we’d welcome co investors to spread the load.”
