Hammers won’t face sanctions

Suggestions that West Ham will face sanctions from FIFA for a late instalment payment for Seb Haller are completely wide of the mark.

It had been suggested by some that West Ham could face a fine, points deduction or transfer ban but this issue will be resolved very shortly and FIFA will close the investigation before it has been opened.

West Ham found themselves in a similar situation with Alessandro Diamanti who they sold Brescia, two years went by with the Italian football authorities and FIFA did nothing.

The Hammers are said to have raised a dispute with the German club although the details around the reason remain commercially confidential.

This issue is now thought to be almost resolved and the delayed payment to Frankfurt is likely to be processed soon which will cause the investigation to disappear.

A West Ham insider told Claret and Hugh it was a legitimate dispute which will be resolved by due process adding it was not a funding issue and the payment was in the process of being dealt with.
