Has Darren’s day dawned?

Tony Cottee believes Darren Randolph is our best keeper and should replace Adrian in tomorrow’s clash with Southamton.

Here’s how ClaretandHugh Facebook group members have reacted to Cottee’s call.

O He’s never et us down and Adrian looks to be out of touch after seeing eight goals go  past him in 180 minutes. Give it a go Slav.

O So if Randolph lets in goals, makes errors, is it call up Spiegel? We are sadly becoming a reactionary club. I hardly recognise the Club I first started attending as a kid in the 60’s and a lot not for the better, from Top to bottom.
O Think it’s common sense. Adrian is not looking sharp, (same goes for many of the team!), and I think Slav has given him time. Any player that repeatedly underperforms should not assume that they will play the next game.
Since we have another, decent, option maybe they need to start fighting for their places?
O Then Slav should have dropped some of the summer signing before now! but one he wanted so badly.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. We’re all great managers when we have the benefit of it. Sadly Slav doesn’t. He has to make his decisions BEFORE a game not after. It’s a lot harder. He knows the players better than we do.
O Not sure how many of the goals conceded recently have really been down to Adrian, but I’ve found his distribution and long passes to be well off the mark, which hasnt helped whichever striker’s been stuck up front on his own. Maybe a few games for Randolph are in order – cant get any worse at the back, can it??
