Javier Hernandez was greeted by Sevilla sporting director Monchi at the San Pablo Airport on Sunday later posing for a photograph for press next to a Sevilla football crest. He is expected to put pen to paper today on a three-year contract after West Ham and Sevilla agreed on a transfer fee and financial terms on Sunday.

The 31-year-old Mexican striker was sold for €7.8m (£7m) plus an additional €1m (£900,000) in add-ons. He turned down offers from Russian & Turkish clubs taking a pay cut from his £145,000 per week at West Ham to £75,000 per week to force his move to Spain. He will receive a £500,000 bonus if Sevilla qualifies for the Champions League next season.

He slapped his official transfer request on Thursday saying he was desperate for his family to return to Spanish speaking country. He will forgo the remainder of his signing-on/loyalty bonus and West Ham will save around £6.6m in wages for the remaining ten months of his contract.

Once the contract is signed  West Ham and Sevilla are expected to make a joint statement later today before the Spanish transfer window closes at 11:59 pm local time today.
