Hughie hands out his marks

Fabianski: Exposed for both goals but made some marvellous at feet saves – we need him next season 8

Johnson: Another top game which included one magnificent off the line clearance. Interesting that he remained at right back when Coufal came on for the injured Cresswell given his left sided abilities. He’s very much the No 1 in the role 8

Dawson: Tough afternoon but did okay alongside Zouma. Some important interventions 7

Zouma: Impressive particularly early on when he was always the last defender 7+

Cresswell: Crashed into an upright making a fine clearance and went off injured. Forced to defend for the majority of the game and was impressive 8

Rice: Best player on the pitch in the second half but certainly had some probs in the first 8

Soucek: Quietly effective in a midfield mainly dominated by City – looks to be on his way back 7

Masuaku: Some will want to blame him for first goal but that would be harsh. One or two reasonable runs but no end product 5

Fornals: Isolated for much of the game as City dominated but plenty of effort when the ball broke to him 6

Benrahma: Maybe it’s the barnet that makes it noticeable but spent a lot of time running around like a lost soul. You always hope and expect but didn’t happen today

Antonio: Responsible for losing the ball to help set up City’s second goal but no service to speak of up front 5

Subs:

Coufal (for Cresswell) Did ok out of position without ever being under intense pressure 6

Lanzini: Fabulous last second goal – maybe it would have been a different game had he started – always busy and effective 7

Bowen: Never had a real involvement arriving late 5
