Newcastle are said to be confident of signing Armando Broja from Chelsea this summer, according to a new report from The Northern Echo.

The local paper reports that the Magpies are hoping to sign a new striker in this transfer window after securing Nick Pope, Matt Targett, and Sven Botman.

Newcastle wanted to do a deal to sign Hugo Ekitike from Reims, but are now assessing other options, including Broja.

Chelsea have yet to make a final decision over his future, but we know that the Hammers are interested in signing the Albania international.

Broja is David Moyes’ top target when it comes to signing a new striker, having already signed Nayef Aguerd and Alphonse Areola.

However, it appears that the Magpies feel confident of bringing him in from Chelsea.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel wants to take a look at the striker in pre-season after he spent last season on loan at Southampton, scoring nine goals.
