Freddie Sears fought a long losing battle to establish himself at the Irons and now admits – TOO LONG!

Five loan spells in four years tells its own story and he now admits he’d have been better off moving on earlier and getting match time.

He told The Mail: “It didn’t work out for me at West Ham. It was my goal to play for them, but maybe my regret is not leaving earlier and trying to get out and play more games.

“It’s a hard decision to leave the club you support and the club that’s local to you, but at the end of the day you need to be playing football.

I was 22 when I left; maybe I could have left a bit earlier and played more but West Ham’s a great club so it wasn’t easy.”
