Despite his 35 years the Polish international continues to impress and whilst a back-up keeper will be on the manager’s agenda in the summer, Fab is seen as being certainly good for another year and possibly more.
The keeper has had his weaker moments since incurring a thigh injury at Bournemouth last season but in general terms his performances have been strong.
He saved the team a point in the 1-1 draw with three outstanding stops near the end of the game and is now fully expected to agree another year at least.
Robert Snodgrass, however, may have to wait to discover whether, at 34 next year, a new deal is on the cards for him. With Jarrod Bowen and Andriy Yarmolenko available as right sided midfielders, he may be struggling.
The club normally makes its first moves on extensions around Christmas.
