Reece Oxford is locked into talks with the Hammers over a new contract.

However, ClaretandHugh understands that there is no agreement with ‘Team Oxford’ claiming that at this stage there is no rush to do the deal given his current contract doesn’t run out until 2019.

The Hammers know however that should the issue go to arbitration given his age, they are likely to receive far less than might be possible should negotiations break down.

We understand that a raise to his basic wage has been offered along with other clauses based on appearances and the like.

Both Manchester clubs have shown an interest in the defender and scouted him during the recent England under 19s European tournament.

He has been regularly scouted by the two Manchester clubs in particular but the Irons remain desperately keen to nail him down to a deal.

The Hammers will continue to talk with his advisors as they attempt to sort out a deal for one of the most seriously coveted young players in the country.
