Reece Burke has learned this morning there are no plans to send him out on another loan spell.

ClaretandHugh was told this morning that the young central defender is seen as an important player who is likely to get his chance to impress this term.

And we were told by a well placed insider: “The window has only just opened but we have no plans to put Reece out on loan  at this stage.

“With the Tomkins deal now in it’s final negotiaions stage he is a player we expect to see step up in the pecking order next season.

“He won seven awards at Bradford last season and that is a remarkable achievement at any level of the game. We continued to monitor his progress closely and he has shown remarkable progress.”

Burke will be on the ‘plane with the squad when they fly out to the States tomorrow (Sun) and is looking forward to it in a big way.

He said:  “I can’t wait for the tour, but I’m not looking forward to the flight! It’s going to be good for me to get back with the first team as I’ve been away from them for quite a long time now.

“Last season was one of my biggest so far. Going away and getting a load of games under my belt and getting loads of experience was great.

“I’ve really enjoyed it and the next step now is coming back in and showing what I can do. Only time will tell, and it’s up to Slaven. I want to take it step-by-step and see how it goes.”

“It’s a good time for the gaffer to have a look at me and all the other younger players too.”
