Sam Allardyce has been reported in the Sun as saying his wife Lynne was upset by the insults he suffered at the hands of West Ham fans websites when he was at the club.
He added: “It’s nice to be loved. But at West Ham and at Newcastle I was faced by passionate fans that made themselves heard if they weren’t happy.“It wasn’t just me at West Ham, it was every manager that was there. I got it because I was the manager at that time but before that they moaned about Avram Grant, Alan Curbishley, Alan Pardew and Harry Redknapp — look at Alan Pardew now and how his career has transformed.“They gave him a hard time at Newcastle and he moved to Crystal Palace where the fans love him and the turnaround has been scary.”And the fans have been quick to react on ths ClaretandHugh facebook site @ https://www.facebook.com/groups/363174467150521/714186225382675/?comment_id=714234222044542¬if_t=like.Here’s a selection of quotes from them:
Dean MarshOh dear…he’s still moaning about us though, even though he has not missed our moaners lol
Dave GoodgerStop picking at the scab. He’s gone. Let it go. He did a good job but it was right that he left. All this story says it that his mrs read websites like this and got upset. Nothing in the story slags us off. Just let him be.
Stephen SmithI am sad that his wife was offended by some of the fans’ posts. However, I feel more sorry for her that she is married to Sam! Nobody deserves that!
Stephen SmithIt would be refreshing if he actually had something positive to say about West Ham and its supporters. I guess we have to take ‘passionate’ as some kind of back-handed compliment!
Darren DilliwayJust as well she hasn’t seen the fake twitter account then!! grin emoticon
