Irons look east to solve striker problem

West Ham are claimed to be considering a move for former Southampton striker Graziano Pelle.

The 32-year-old joined Chinese outfit Shandong Luneng for £12million in July 2016 after scoring 23 goals in 68 games for the Sains before moving on and collecting  a reported £13.5 million salary.

Pelle is apparently ready for a return to Europe and a Hammers move would  see him link up with his former Southampton team-mate Jose Fonte.

However, it seems an unlikely move given the Hammers would only see it as a short term signing at his age. They would probably be thinking more in terms of a loan anyway to help them overcome their current striker problems.

West Ham have also asked about taking Bologna left-back Adam Masina, 24, on loan for the rest of the season – a move which has become urgent given Arthur Masuaku’s disgraceful spitting incident which looks certain to lad him with a long term suspension.
