Irons midfielder may be set for move across London

Charlton boss Lee Bowyer is likely to move in on Hammers fringe midfielder Josh Cullen during the last couple of weeks of the window.

Bowyer has made no secret of his admiration for the player who was a serious part of the Addicks’ rise into the Championship at the expense of Sunderland.

And having been left out of the first Asia Cup game against Manchester City on Wednesday, it begins to look likely that boss Manuel Pellegrini is ready to allow the player to move on if he gets the right offer.

It remains to be seen whether the 23 year old will get a chance to impress against Newcastle in tomorrow’s third place play off game in China.

But thus far he has remained very much the fringe squad player he was before the manager decided he would be better off going out on loan last season.

The major issue for the Irons will be the fee as Charlton have well known cash problems and are unlikely to be able to offer more than £1 million, if that, for the player.

A Hammers source told us by e mail: “We are ready to look at all offers for players on the fringes of the squad and it will be the manager of course making those decisions.”
