West Ham are understood to be in for Toulouse striker Martin Braithwaite whose 12 goals played a major part in keeping the French club up this season.

And the goals came despite him figuring mainly in a wide role.

Braithwaite has a year left on his contract and the Irons have been scouting him throughout last season after he was told he’d be allowed to leave if the club stayed up.

He is represented by agent Mark McKay with whom the Hammers have a close relationship and the agent commented:  ‘Martin has fulfilled his part of the promise he made to Toulouse and now wants to take his career to the next level in the Premier League. It is an exciting opportunity for him.

This is not the major signing the Hammers are looking to ae this summer but it is in in line with their vlue for money policy which could see him come to the club for as little as £4milion – which is beleived to be their latest offer.

De facto Director of Football David Sullivan insists the ” pack will be shaken up this summer” and should Enner Valencia leave as a result for around £10 million the club will see that as great business.
