Diafra Sakho will play without the aid of painkillers for the first time in nearly two years when he finally makes his West Ham return.

There’s a 50-50 chance the Senegal striker could be in the squad for the clash with Palace this weekend but that will depend on Slaven Bilic.

The back problem has plagued the striker since he travelled away on international duty two years ago and he hasn’t been out of pain since.

At the time there was the possibilty of the Hammers taking legal action but in the end that plan was dropped.

We were told a few minutes ago (Mon) : “Diafra has played with the aid of painkillers more or less since he sustained the injury which hasn’t been in any way ideal.

“Slaven now has a big decision to make -whether to launch him into action or give him another week or two to be certain there’s no reaction.

” There were worries that Sak he had an ongoing problem – like lumbago or something similar  – but he is now training very hard and is getting no pain whatsoever which is fantastic.

” The player is also determined to show he is totally committed to West Ham and is demonstrating a very different attitude.”
