West Ham players are backing resurgent boss David Moyes to be handed a contract extension following the club’s resurgence since lockdown.

However, as reported by ClaretandHugh a few days ago – and the Mail today – the owners are not ready to offer a new deal until the club is safe from relegation.

And Moyes himself made it clear over the last couple of says that he is entirely relaxed with his current position and is focused solely on team affairs at this time.

He declared himself to have a good relationship with the board and said  that contract talks can wait until both sides are ready.

The Mail is reporting precisely the same scenario but declares there is a sense among key members of the Hammers squad that the Scot deserves a longer deal having kept the club up last season and the promising opening to the current campaign – which has seen them play Tottenham, Manchester City, Leicester and Wolves.

Gold and Sullivan hadn’t considered offering a new deal until the start of 2021 at the earliest and may wait for more tangible evidence the club are heading in the right direction before initiating extension talks.

However, we can reveal that an automatic contract extension could be triggered should moyes meet performance related clauses inserted into his present contract.
