West Ham have now hit the magical total of 40 points at the weekend, we would usually be sighing with relief at this point, content that we have survived in the Premier League for another season.
But this year under Slaven Bilic the expectations are different after 26 games; anything lower than eighth place would be a a major disappointment with many still talking about the possibility of top four or six finish once Sakho and Lanzini are firing on all cylinders again. We are also just 180 minutes away from an FA Cup semi final at Wembley in April and another 90 minutes beyond that from possible FA Cup final in May. But let’s not get carried away.
My estimate is twenty six points from the twelve remaining games to take us a magical 66 points this season. That would have been enough to grab fifth place from Spurs last season who finished on 64 points. We finished twelfth on 47 points last season. We can almost guarantee we will pass that points total.
