Irons Reid plan MAY now pay off big time

West Ham will be hoping that they will be in a position to set up an auction for Winston Reid after his impressive spell with Brentford this season.

And that was done absolutely no harm by his appearance in the playoff final this afternoon which saw the Bees fire themselves into the Premier League after missing out last season.

Reid’s days at the top level have looked over for a while with loan spells in America but after making it a round dozen appearances for the Bees today both the Bees and others may well be ready to sign him permanently.

That was unquestionably the plan when the Irons let him out on loan and it could easily be there will be interest from elsewhere.

With two years of his contract remaining and a contract worth £70k a week it would remove over £3.6m a year from the wage bill but given his 32 years would only bring in a transfer fee of around £2 million.
