West Ham have knocked back speculation that they are looking to clinch a deal for Sparta Prague’s David Hancko and are keen on a January switch.

The Hammers have had several bids turned down in the window generally so far this winter but Hancko is not among them.

The  left sided defender is one that was looked at but the Hammers don’t believe he is ready for the Premier League at this point.

With new Hammers director Daniel Kretinsky the chairman of Sparta Prague it was believed in some areas that a deal was on for a guy who has 32 appearances to his name at the club.

Hancko is reported as being not only solid at the back whilst able to score goals – six goals and an assist to his name thus far.

However, a Hammers insider told ClaretandHugh that the former Fiorentina defender isn’t considered experienced enough for Premier League football at this stage.

Our source said: “He’s not ready for the Premier League – maybe one day.”
