Some footballers are just downright unlucky and Lucas Perez appears to be one of them.

Having spent a lean time during his spell at Arsenal where he made just nine appearances in all competitions and disappeared on loan to Deportivo he had been overlooked most of the season on moving to the Hammers.

But after grabbing a couple against Cardiff City and changing the game after his arrival as a sub he was rightly handed his chance of a start against Palace yesterday.

He’s an opportunistic player and was responsible for the team’s best chance when firing a clever shot just inches wide and showed decent movement.

But then of course came more ill luck as he was subbed at half time for Andy Carroll with many believing it was his form which had caused the manager to make the decision.

Instead he had suffered a foot injury which this morning he is showing off with the message on Twitter:Happy for the win and regretting not being able to continue helping the team
