Yohan Cabaye – regularly linked as a major target for West Ham – is this morning reported as being close to a switch to Crystal Palace.

The Mirror claims that the former Newcastle midfield ace is ready for a premier league return after his spell at Paris St Germain following a £19 million switch to the French champs.

He is now apparently available at a cut price and is keen to link up with Alan Pardew at Selhurst Park. The Mirror understands a deal is set to be done in the next week in time for the Eagles’ pre-season.

The Hammers – despite reports claiming that he is a target – have revealed to ClaretandHugh that they have not been chasing the 29 year old.

We were told: “We have done zero on the player.”

Former Irons boss But Pardew is also claimed to be interested in Charlie Austin who also interests West Brom and has again been linked with us.

But the £15 million asking fee is too much for the Irons who would only possibly become involved if it were to be dropped.
