Manu Lanzini -as exclusively revealed in ClaretandHugh over a week ago – has signed a new long-term contract with the Club.

The Argentian has signed a new four year deal until 30 June 2023, with the option of extending his stay at London Stadium for a further two years.

Announcing the deal formally on the official website – the club said: Lanzini, who joined the Hammers in summer 2015 and recently passed 100 Premier League appearances in Claret and Blue, is looking forward to spending the prime years of his career in a West Ham shirt.

And Lanzini said at https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2019/august/30-august/manuel-lanzini-signs-new-long-term-contract-west-ham-united: “I’m so happy to sign a new contract for West Ham. I think it’s the best decision for me.

“I’ve been here for a long time and I’ve said in an interview before that I like West Ham, I like the fans, I like the staff and when I came here all the people were comfortable with me. I like to stay here.

“It’s a big decision but also easy, because when you feel good in one club and you like the club and the club likes you, it’s easier to decide these things. For me, it was not difficult. It was easy, because I love it here.

“I love London, I love the Club, I am happy here, we have a very good team, we have a very good manager and the Club wants to change and to be in more competitions in the future and that’s good for us.”

ClaretandHugh says: What a  good news season this is turning out to be and in all conversations with our own insiders over the last ten days to two weeks there was total confidence that a deal would be done with the midfielder. Only yesterday we revealed again that the announcement could be made within a few days – that it’s happened within 24 hours is brilliant news and gives us all the chance to give him a fantastic ovation when he walks out for tomorrow’s match against Norwich City. That he should choose to stay at the club for another four to six years demonstrates exactly how far we are progressing. First Declan agrees six and now Manu – entering peak years of his career – follows suit. Liverpool have been keenly interested in the player for ages and he is quite clearly a guy who could play in the top six. Instead he has agreed to stay with the Hammers and we congratulate everybody involved in making the deal happen.
