Matt Jarvis clearly hopes our upside down season continues past Southampton and into the rest of the season.

Although on nearly the same number of points as at the same time, the recent revival is entirely responsible for that.

The team were far more comfortable for longer last term but despite a near diametrically opposed campaign we are now just three points behind last season’s tally at the same point!

The recent run of results is responsible and the winger said:  “Given we’re on almost the same points as we were at this stage last season it’s a turnaround.

“We had such a good start last season that it really helped keep us up in the top half and when we had a little dip it didn’t matter as much because we were still high up in the table.

“This season we’ve been a little up and down in the table but it’s nice that we’re on a high at the moment and hopefully we can continue that.”

Against the Saints the Hammers will be looking for a third straight home win following 2-0 successes against both Swansea City and Norwich City at the Boleyn Ground.

Saturday’s opponents Southampton are sitting in eighth place and are a tough side to beat but Jarvis has backed the Irons to win.

He said: “When the atmosphere here is electric it’s a really tough place to come and hopefully we can carry on our good form with the fans backing us as they have done all season.

“We just need to keep the morale up and keep the confidence levels high to continue this form and hopefully we can enjoy another win on Saturday.

“They’re a very good side. A good passing team with a lot of energy and it will be a tough game
