Joe Cole: West Ham mood never better

Former Hammer Joe Cole says the mood at West Ham has never been so good as it is under David Moyes

Coley told BT Sport viewers: “I’ve been to West Ham many times since I retired. And I’ve never been there when there has been such a good mood as there is now. The lads seem to be happy, David is full of optimism. I think West Ham are in a good position.”

A proud product of the West Ham youth system, Cole made his first-team debut for the Hammers in 1999, at just 17-years-old, before making his Premier League debut just days later. The midfielder then helped the Irons win the FA Youth Cup with a 9-0 aggregate win over Coventry City.

He  played 187 games in all competitions for the Irons across his two spells, scoring 18 goals. His final appearance in the Claret and Blue came on May 11 2014, against Manchester City.

The former Hammer is not alone in his high praise for the manager with several suggesting that Moyes could end up being the best manager since John Lyall.

The Scotsman has a long way to go to achieve that lofty status but you do wonder what could have been if David Moyes had stayed on instead appointing Manuel Pellegrini and spending £200m on transfers.
