West Ham United have activated a two-year option in Adrian’s contract.

The Club have activated a clause to keep the goalkeeper until summer 2019.

Manager Slaven Bilic confirmed the news in this morning’s pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s season finale at Burnley.

“Adrian was out of contract but we have an option and we activated that option and we are happy with him, of course,” said Bilic.

Seville-born Adrian joined the Hammers from his hometown club Real Betis in summer 2013 on a free transfer. Since then, the goalkeeper has twice been voted Hammer of the Year runner-up, amassed 105 Premier League appearances and kept 29 top-flight clean sheets.

Adrian put pen to paper on a new two-year deal back in October 2015 including a two-year option to extend, which has now been activated.

When asked, Bilic also confirmed that former Spain full-back Alvaro Arbeloa is out of contract and will depart east London this summer.

“It is a different situation with Arbeloa; he came for one season and his contract is up now,” the manager added.
