Klopp remembers “incredible Haller” from Germany
Admitting that injured Antonio has been sensational this season he went on to make his admiration for the man most likely to replace him obvious.
He reminded reporters that Hammer had an incredible season at Frankfurt praising him as good, quick, physical and brilliant in the air.
And the Liverpool manager said that West Ham have many options in the absence of Antonio and praised the club for some smart transfer business in the last 18 months adding that everything is starting to click for the club.
Quite what “other options” Klopp is referring to when discussing our position up front was left unclear although it suggests he is planning for any eventualities as he sees them.
He’s probably correct in assuming that Haller will be the chosen option but Moyes may have another plan up his sleeve.
Klopp was giving his virtual pre-match press conference ahead of Liverpool’s game on Saturday evening.
His team need to draw or win against West Ham to match a club unbeaten run of 63 games at Anfield.
And he confirmed Liverpool will be without Fabinho for the visit of West Ham to Anfield on Saturday.
Klopp told his pre-match press conference: “Fab is not in, that’s clear. He got a little injury and so he will be out for the weekend and probably slightly longer.
“That’s one thing, but all the others who are fit will be in contention, either on the pitch or on the bench and coming on.”
And of West Ham he added: “It’s like everybody when you have a player who plays usually all the time and you cannot use him, that doesn’t help.
“But even when you maybe don’t know him that good in England, but [Sebastien] Haller – I know him from Germany and he played an incredible season or two seasons at Frankfurt and was an incredible striker.
“A different type but good footballer, quick enough as well, and physically, first of all, similarly strong, if not stronger, brilliant in the air and all these kind of things.”
