Lanzini contract talks continue

West Ham are continuing talks with Manu Lanzini and tonight killed speculation that the arrival of Pablo Fornals would see the Argentine midfielder being sold.

The Irons hold a two year option on Lanzini but are in negotiations to avoid any danger of that situation being tested at law.

There have been regular suggestions that the option arrangement is open to interpretation in the courts and rather than get involved in such a scenario the club are hoping to tie the midfielder down to a new three or four year deal which would take him into his thirties.

The player is currently believed to be earning around £35k to £40k a week but will want to see his personal terms doubled.

The arrival of Fornals has been seen by some conspiracy theorists as being the end of Lanzini but a senior Hammers source told us by e mail this evening: “He is not a replacement for Manuel.

The manager sees room for them both in the team and is determined to play exciting West Ham Way football. We are continuing to negotiate with Lanzini and his advisers and are keen to get a deal done.”
