West Ham playmaker Manuel Lanzini will be out of action for up to six weeks as originally feared.

Lanzini had his scan yesterday and the medical results confirmed what we had all been dreading. ClaretandHugh’s most senior source confirmed the news was grim and the player would be out for ‘six weeks’.

The Argentinian had just returned from a thigh injury in fine form, hitting the post before being forced off late in the first half of last weekend’s 2-0 win over Liverpool.

West Ham Chairman David Gold confirmed on twitter that the player would undergo further tests to determine the extent of the problem, but said the 22-year-old could be out of action for up to six weeks.

Gold told his followers: “We will know more about Manuel’s injury after the scan on Monday but it could be 4/6 weeks. He was superb today.”
