Hammer Manuel Lanzini has sprained his left knee in the goalless draw with Colombia last Thursday and will now miss the remaining two friendlies against Haití and México prior to the Olympics opener against Portugal on August 4th claim the Argentina press today.

The 23-year-old had a good game against Colombia so news of his injury will come as a huge blow to coach Julio Olarticoechea.

Lanzini started in an attacking role with Ángel Correa, behind lone striker Jonathan Calleri who will soon join West Ham on loan, subject to a work permit or European passport. Lanzini’s absence will mean a chance for Huracán’s Cristian Espinoza. Argentina will train on Saturday in Miama ahead of Sunday’s friendly with Haití before travelling to Puebla, where they will face México on Thursday.
