Leroy: We need to know what we’ll get every week

It would have been next door to impossible to get a better response from the Irons as we saw at Southampton – they were full of pace, power and poise to crush their opposition after the Manchester City debacle.

But now comes another acid test – West Brom – and the Irons really need to show that it can deliver the sort of performance we saw at St Mary’s every  week.

It really is important that the fans know what they are going to get because there is nothing more frustrating than knowing this is a good side and getting bad performances.

We had Michail Antonio into the Premier League offices this week and he was telling us that the spirit in the dressing room is first class and that the team knows its strengths.

Those strengths right now are pace and power led by an Andy Carroll playing some of the best football of his career and I have everything crossed he makes it tomorrow.

West Brom will of course bring a different set of problems. They are always so strong at the back but have added a bit of attacking flair which shouldn’t cause problems if the lads at the back remain organised.

Home matches are a problem for the Hammers at the moment as they have been most of the season and for me that’s down to an atmosphere which is not too conducive to patience.

Understandably the crowd get edgy and maybe that’s getting through to the guys but if we can settle down a bit I’m sure that will help.

I want to see the Hammers buy a really good passing midfielder in the summer – someone like Michael Carrick at his best who can provide different options.

You won’t replace Payet and we don’t need to. But a guy who can boss midfield and see openings would be a great addition.

Tony Pulis’ teams always provide a real tough test but if we can carry on in the sort of form we saw at St Mary’s I believe we can beat them.

I loved the way we kept going forward and really killed the game off and if we get more of the same at the LS tomorrow then I think we will run out 1-0 winners.
