Let’s hope Moyes’ words don’t backfire on him

David Moyes may just have found himself out last night!

In making his assessment of the team’s performance he came to the conclusion thousands of fans have been arguing for ages and ages – that we lacked quality around the box.

Filled the gap when Mikey was failing to fire

Jarrod Bowen has been our saving grace in that area since Mike Antonio’s goal scoring deserted him  grabbing seven goals since then.

Much has been said of Antonio but as the sole striker on the squad how on earth can anyone expect his form to remain at the highest level all season long? They can’t and they shouldn’t!

The answer was to find another – we haven’t!

On top of that Moyes decided to blame Daws publicly for going anywhere near Broja for the penalty which gave Saints their second goal.

I don’t wanna hear that particular bloke  balled out after the season he’s had and regularly playing through injuries – we’re all allowed one mistake aren’t we and but for a great save he’d have been a hero?

And if that wasn’t enough Moyes then made it clear that if we didn’t improve there would be nothing for the team to play for.

Some will agree with all of that – fair enough! But personally I reckon to be talking in such terms about a season where much is still at stake isn’t what I want to hear publicly from my manager.

It’s one for the dressing room surely and I hope his words don’t backfire on him.

CandH FB follower Emlyn Underhill holds much the same view commenting: “I’m not sure this is the best response from Moyes.

I thought Dawson made a decent effort to block a shot. I’m putting this down to the fault of Moyes. After 30 minutes, I saw worn out players.

I know they are athletes but they are still playing a lot of games. More than most, so far. And now they are playing against fresher opposition.

I know going back to the winter window is flogging a dead horse (easy Zouma) but instead of making excuses he should of bought.
He had targets and the club should of been on the ball and not last minute.
