Former Hammer loanee Jesse Lingard has opened up on his sparkling form under David Moyes at West Ham, insisting that a run in the team and staying consistent was vital for him.

“I played every game since I got there and when you play a run of games like that you get a bit of confidence. Of course, the goals came and assists as well,” Lingard told the official Manchester United website.

As a result Lingard also earned a recall to the England set-up, making his first appearance for the Three Lions since 2019 earlier this year.

He was also included in the provisional 33-man squad for this summer’s European Championship but did not make the final 26-man pick for the tournament.

The 28-year-old scored nine goals and assisting a further four in just 16 appearances for West Ham.

In contrast, Lingard made just three cup appearances for the Red Devils last season before his move with no league minutes on the pitch.

Manchester United start their Premier League campaign against Leeds United but have three league fixtures before the transfer window shuts on 31st August.

Jesse appears to be throwing down the gauntlet to Solskjaer saying play me or potentially lose me.
