Lingard return makes very little sense

Odd though it may feel there remains a chance that Jesse Lingard could rejoin the Hammers, perhaps on another loan deal.

The 28 year old failed to appear in the United team that won at Wolves yesterday which my or may not be n indication of where his future lies.

He remains very much a David Moyes favourite but with Croatian Nikol Vlasic seemingly set to join the club and Said Benrahma in great form a third like for like player maybe a luxury too far.

However, we understand that David Moyes has been in regular contact with Lingard since the season ended.

And the news comes amid rumours that the two met last night and with Lingard still renting a flat at Canary Wharf a return to the Hammers maybe an option he has decided to keep open.

However, with Moyes having been a Euros consultant it seems he may well have decided on the Croatian during those duties.

And as things stand it would seem to make very little sense given we have seven  midfielders in the first team squad – Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek, Jarrod Bowen, Pablo Fornals,  Andriy Yarmolenko  Said Benrahma, Manu Lanzini, the new lad and Mark Noble, a  tenth seems totally unnecessary..
