David Moyes is no closer to discovering whether his much wanted player – Jesse Lingard – will become a West Ham player either permanently or on loan this winter or next summer.

The Manchester United and England midfielder’s future remains as much in the balance now as it has since he left the London Stadium in the summer.

His father and agent Roy George – forget misinformation about his brother being in that role – appears to be calling all the shots on his son’s future.

What we do know is that Moysie would love to bring him back to the east end but that may not be his father’s aim having been behind the move to keep him at Old Trafford for the first half of the season at least.

The big question now is whether the new manager – whoever that may be – will want him at the club and whether the player and Roy George can hang around long enough to find out with his 29th birthday arriving on the 15th of December.

Much may depend on how Nikola Vlasic – his believed replacement – performs between now and than.
