Pricing would be key but the prospect of having crystal clear reception for every game – rather than the sometimes dodgy streams available to those who watch them on pirate TV – would be welcome by many who can’t get to games or even to those who, can as a great back-up service.
With the PL agreeing to a £14.95 charge for games to be shown this season which weren’t in the original broadcasting schedules the scenario appears to have come a step closer.
And in this short blog ClaretandHugh Facebook follower Tony Duff explains why he believes the development is a “no brainer.”
“I’ve said it for years that fans if pay upwards of £500 for a home season ticket most of the bigger clubs have a capacity of around 40,000 season ticket holders, buying (a home and away on line TV access) including Cups for £300 for example is a no brainer.
I don’t buy into the argument that fans will not go to the game if it’s on TV. I’m a season ticket holder and even on a cold winters night and the game is on Sky I still go and 90% of the people I know at west ham still go because you can’t beat being there.”
Another CandH follower Michael Miller adds: “It’s been on the cards for a long time that the 3pm Saturday ‘embargo’ has got to go – things are moving slowly towards all games being shown by the Premier League! Sky and BT must be having kittens!
