London Stadiium is turned into a fortress

The London Stadium has been turned into a fortress with a twelve-foot fence blocking off access to the bridges that lead to the stadium island.

The Premier League are concerned about supporters congregating outside of top-flight grounds and have ordered extra security measures before the Premer League returns in six days time.  West Ham will host their first Premier League match in nine days when they face Wolves on Saturday 20th June with the next home match played on 1st July against Chelsea.

Although the London Stadium is owned and run by London Legacy Development Corporation funded by the taxpayer the bill for the extra security is being picked up by the Premier League.

The Queen Elizabeth Park which surrounds the stadium is a public park and will remain open but police patrols will ensure that there is no mass gathering or breaking of UK governments lockdown restrictions when games are played.
