London Stadium business case laid bare

The absurdity of a 2013 business case for the London Stadium has been laid bare after publication through the Freedom of Information Act.

The previously confidential document reveals that the public owners estimated the running costs of the stadium to amount to £7.7m each year with revenue of £11.6m leaving an annual profit in excess of £3m to return back to the taxpayer.

The harsh reality is that annual losses peaked at £24m last year and are forecast to lose around £20m per annum for the foreseeable future. Income is forecast to peak at £6.9m per year in the next 3 years which is over £5m under what was predicted in 2013.

Fundamental flaws included receiving as much as £1.5m per annum in revenue from Stadium tours, making almost £1m per year from music concerts and getting £4m from Stadium naming rights.
