The London Stadium could fare better than most Premier League stadiums if social distancing continues to be enforced during the start of the next Premier League season.

The former Olympic Stadium seats are spaced out better than most rival football grounds and there are over 66,000 seats remaining in the stadium allowing even more scope for social distancing in the seating areas.

Premier League clubs are concerned that restrictions on public gatherings will remain in place for the rest of this year and that social distancing may be enforced for many months to come.

The spacious layout of the London Stadium lends itself to introduce social distancing in queues, turnstiles, concourses as well as other public areas.

How exactly clubs would decide which season ticket holders would get to go if capacities were reduced remains to be keen but a rota system has been mooted as one possibility.

Clubs are desperate to get football supporters back into their stadiums but that could prove to be difficult in the short term before a vaccine is widely available and ultimately it iwill be down to the UK government to set guidelines for mass gatherings of people as the lockdown is eased.
