London Stadium to make significant savings

The pandemic is saving London Stadium owners millions in running costs in a bizarre twist of fate.

London Stadium owners have previously claimed each West Ham match costs them £250,000 in operating costs to stage despite bringing in just £100,000 per game of rent from the Hammers. A large proportion of these are spent on the one thousand plus stewards required for each match.

Not providing stewards for the final five home of the season could have potentially saved the public taxpayer £750,000 but that is dwarfed by not moving the seats this summer

Major League Baseball, the Green Day music concert and Athletics were all cancelled over the summer, meaning the London Stadium owners can leave the stadium in football mode and save a further £6m.
Each game that is played behind closed doors will save over £100,000 in stewarding costs and even if supporters return with limited capacities of 25% stewarding and security costs will be slashed.

The London Stadium is likely to reveal massive savings this year when figures are released for LLDC but it is still unlikely to put a massive dent in its £29m per year annual losses.
