Long queues for digital ticketing trial

Saturday afternoon saw long queues at Turnstile G which was trialling over 2,000 supporters using new Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.

The new contactless technology has been installed at all turnstiles in preparation for the 2022/23 season, with the club previously having undertaken a much smaller trial of the technology at the Brighton & Hove Albion game in December and last Tuesday’s meeting with Watford.

The technology is provided by a company called Fortress which is used by a number of other football clubs.

Supporters are hoping this is not a sign of things to come after only just getting used to the current digital ticketing technology of emailed QR and Bar codes.

Earlier this month the club released a statement saying during the close season, the club will use the feedback they receive from across all of their channels, including calls, emails,  letters, survey responses, Tweets, and the discussions they have with supporters’ groups, to communicate ahead of the new entry process for everyone at the London Stadium in time for the 2022/23 season.

A seasonal digital pass will only need to be downloaded once for the 2022/23 campaign and will replace existing Season Ticket access cards and paper tickets for all home fixtures, including all cup ties. An email will be sent to all Season Ticket Holders during the close season that includes all the information they need to download their seasonal digital pass

The club says they are also conscious that a small number of Season Ticket Holders may not have access to a smartphone and they will continue to be inclusive and make sure they do everything thy can to support all fans.

Those Season Ticket Holders who do not have access to a smartphone will be able to request a physical Stadium access card with their photograph on ahead of the 2022/23 season. More information on how to request this will be sent directly to Season Ticket Holders via email during the close season
