Hammers long term contracts mean little
Divin Mubama’s hoped for new deal is the latest contract news to hit the Hammers headlines with many hoping he will do a Jarrod Bowen and sign for years. But long term contracts mean little in reality and are only there to protect the club’s interests. Hammers long term contracts mean very little
Why so much made of players being signed to long contracts, is a mystery to me. The club is just protecting itself for the day when a ‘bigger’ club comes in for the player. Jarrod Bowen will be a player in demand and West Ham will obviously want to maximise the fee they get for him. The longer the contract he’s on the better!
As far as Mubama is concerned, there’s a real danger of him leaving for nothing and the investment that West Ham have put into his development being completely wasted as a result. I think the problem is that he’s only been given 29 minutes of First Team football (maybe that figure is a little larger following his 90th minute appearance against Olympiakos
