Look at Man U, Wolves, Everton, Spuds – we’re not alone

The post mortem on  Saturday just keeps going on giving and will no doubt do so until and Burnley.

If ever a result was needed it’s this weekend but in the meantime ClaretandHugh Facebook follower Paul Seeman gives a very well reasoned summary of the problems the team is facing.

In doing so he comes to some straightforward and non melodramatic conclusions.

There just seems to have been a massive drop off in form from most of the players at the same time – really strange!

Is it really as straight forward as Fabianski being out of the team or is that just coincidence? These same players started the season well – although we have had a poor goal conversion rate for a while.

Anderson, Lanzini and Yarmolenko should be stonking going forward but they all seems so low on confidence at the same time, and back ups are equally out of form or injured.

On the plus side, we are only four points off of fifth  and have a team that is still capable of giving most sides a beating when they click. This has to be a mental thing, something more underlying.

Need much more directness – look at what happened at the end of the Newcastle game – but for how long have we been really poor at the start of the games?

Even at the last season in the Boleyn we often went behind first. Probably the reason we are only four points off 5th as that somany other teams who should be challenging are also suffering from a similar malaise – Everton, Tottenham, Man U, Wolves, even by their standards Man City.

Look abroad at Real Madrid last year or Bayern Munich. I think it is indicative of wider issues in football. I don’t think changing the manager will help or is necessary, but they need to unpick what is happening.
